Genre: Drama/Comedy

Overall Web-series Rating: Green/Blue

rating scale - green-blue

Studville TV is about a group of studs that call themselves “the crew” and are based in Atlanta and they are back for a second season. The new season begins by updating us on what has been up with each member of the crew since Season one. Each of our main characters has a new lady in their life but our old femme “girlfriend” stars are featured in the first couple episodes, providing a transaction from old to new. Throughout the season we see how “the crew” moves on with their lives and the struggles that they are presented with. The second season tackles more issues that were not seen in Season one and also touched back on some old ones. As the season goes on, we see new studs being added to the cast and becoming a permanent fixture. Making for a very intriguing season. Read Complete Review

We Are Coming Back!

As we have had a period of time with no new reviews posted, let’s be honest it been two years but a period of time sounds so much better. We are happy to tell you that we will be posting reviews again very soon!

I apologize for my time away, life did get a bit hectic and there never seemed to be enough time to research, watch/read, write and edit. We are going to start slow, with two reviews per month and as time goes on we will go back to the original schedule to provide weekly reviews for your LGBT entertainment. Who knows, it might even go to being more than once a week, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

As there are many series, movies, books and music out there that we might not come across, we would love for you to provide us with your suggestions of what you would like to see reviewed on our blog.

Review Suggestions

We would also love to do interviews with creators of any LGBT entertainment, so please feel free to contact us and we can arrange something.

If-I-Was-Your-Girl

Title: If I was Your Girl

Genre: Drama

Overall Ratings: Green

rating scale - green

“If I was Your Girl” is a movie about four black lesbians, or better yet two lesbian couples that have issues within their relationships. One relationship showed lack of appreciation and misuse, while the other couple has the issue of cheating and abuse. All four characters interacted as the studs from both relationships are best friends. As such the story mainly follows them together, then takes you into the life of their relationships. This movie has drug use, alcohol abuse and consists of a lot of swearing, which might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Ratings!

So as I have stated multiple times, the rainbow flag colours will be used as my rating system, but I think I should provide you with a better description of each colour/rating. I even busted out the Photoshop skills for this one.

rating scale - red

Red – Not worth it, like seriously, I am not even joking if I drop a red rating on anything – that’s about it nothing more to say, just move on.

rating scale - red-orange

Red/Orange – Seriously flawed but there is just something that doesn’t make it down right horrible

rating scale - orange

Orange – It is bad but with some¬†potential, some spark, some something – sometimes you can’t quite put your finger on it

rating scale - orange-yellow

Orange/Yellow – It’s bad, but with potential that you can¬†recognize

rating scale - yellow

Yellow – True potential – the flaws can be looked over

rating scale - yellow-green

Yellow/Green – Nice, interesting

rating scale - green

Green – Good

rating scale - green-blue

Green/Blue – Very Good, this rating anything above has my personal seal of approval

rating scale - blue

Blue – Fricking A – whatever is rated is getting an A+

rating scale - blue-purple

Blue/Purple – This is as close to perfection as it could get

rating scale - purple

Purple – This is perfect – if anything gets this, nothing else needs to be said, just pure perfection

So this is the break-down of how web-series will be reviewed, movies and books were basically the same thing, but web-series will be a little different. Well first the good news, web-series reviews will be once a week……..till I run out of web-series of course.

On to the more confusing news, web-series will be rated into three ways……web-series that are complete or have complete series that I have watched, will have one review for the entire season in question. So those reviews, will give you an overview of the entire season, the characters, the¬†story-line. So that is exactly what I will be rating: overall,¬†characters,¬†story-line, as well and the acting and production quality.

Then there are those that have been completed or have a complete season that I have yet to watch, those will¬†receive¬†two reviews, the first of which is a “First Look Review”. My girlfriend and I had a system where we would watch the first three episodes of a series and decide from there if we would keep watching, I am going to apply that system to any new web-series that I come across. So after watching the first three episodes, the review will give a breakdown on the impression so far, the characters, the¬†story-line¬†and the overall¬†quality. Then once I finish the series, will compare it to the first look, the improvements and the progress of the story-line.

So for the series that are currently going, they will get an episode by episode review, depending on how far in the season the series is, I might do one post with all episodes reviewed or do a review of the series so far.

Overall I really want to focus on reviewing the¬†quality¬†and¬†story-lines¬†of the web-series, along with their entertainment value. As always my rating system is the same¬†which will be the rainbow colours, we use six colour is our rainbow flag: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. So red will represent the lowest rating given (sorry all those red lovers out there) and purple for the highest rating. Some ratings might be a double colour rating: yellow/green, basically it¬†hasn’t¬†gain green status but is still better than a yellow rating, basically it would be like a .5 when using a number rating system.

I have a list of web-series under by belt that I plan to review, but as always I am open to suggestions, please feel free to contact me.

Movie Review Break-Down

This post feels a bit like deja-vu, just a bit though. So this post is to basically tell you how my movie reviews will go, what exactly I am looking for and how often you should expect to see these reviews and my rating system. So movie reviews will be more frequent than book reviews, because they are much easier to get through. So with that said movie reviews will be every 29 days, see that’s more frequent than a month. Okay I’m kidding, you will have a movie review every two weeks. If you want them more frequently, I could quit my job and see what I can make happen.

How will I approach the reviews? It won’t just be a standard review, but I would also look at the LGBT presence and factors within the titles. The LGBT issues that are present and how they are handled. Trying my best not to give any spoilers, but if I can’t help it, you will get a SPOILER ALERT (the deja-vu is pretty strong here)

My rating system will be the same for my web-series and movie review, which will be the rainbow colours, we use six colour is our rainbow flag: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. So red will represent the lowest rating given (sorry all those red lovers out there) and purple for the highest rating. Some ratings might be a double colour rating: yellow/green, basically it hasn’t gain green status but is still better than a yellow rating, basically it would be like a .5 when using a number rating system.

What aspect will I be rating when I do my movie reviews?

  • Overall
  • LGBT Presence
  • Plot/Story-line
  • Acting Quality
  • LGBT Rating

I have my own personal list of LGBT movies, but I am always looking to expand that list, so as always, I am open to suggestions.

De-briefing the Rainbow

Firstly let me welcome you to my blog ūüôā WELCOME!! Now you must be wondering, what the heck does debriefing the rainbow even mean? Honestly I have no idea, I just typed random letters and this is what I came up with. Ok seriously, it is exactly as the name states “Debriefing” ūüėČ just like the CIA or FBI (at least in the movies) when they go out on a mission, when it is all said and done the agent still has to report all the findings and state exactly what happened on said mission. I will be doing the same thing, except my mission will be to watch, read and listen to various media. “Rainbow” we fly it high and we fly it proud (the flags of course, not an actually rainbow), it is the most¬†recognized¬†symbol is our LGBT community, and that is exactly what it means “Our LGBT community”. So put that together and what do we get? I will be watching, reading and listening to all things LGBT and informing our community of those findings.

So after that lengthy explanation, if you don’t quite get it or simply just skipped that paragraph, this is a review blog, where I will be doing reviews on different form of entertainment that’s LGBT related. Why didn’t I just say that? Beats me.

So I will be searching the web for web-series, movies, books, even blogs and websites then I will be writing what I think about them, that’s right WHAT I THINK, so this is my personal opinions, feelings and ratings on these particular forms of entertainment. Will it be sugar-coated? Maybe, depends on the day, time and even the particular item being reviewed, but the answer is mostly…no.

Who am I? Just a 25-year-old stud, that enjoys seeking media geared towards our LGBT lifestyle, sometimes you have to search high and low to find these little gems, sometimes they turn out to be coals but whether it is a good or bad experience, the effort is always appreciated, so I just want the rest of our Community to know about them and what I think about it, so that they can go check it out themselves and form their own opinion.

So leave your feedback, tell me what you think and I am always open to suggestions. Enjoy! ūüėÄ
